If you haven’t yet been to the Groves, be prepared to be met by our favorite furry friend, Hedy the dog! Her owner, Judith A., has a very friendly and creative personality, and it’s not a normal day in the Groves if you don’t see her reading, painting, socializing, or playing with Hedy!
Judith was born in Washington, DC, and raised in Silver Spring, MD, where she attended Montgomery Blair High School. She went on to attend the University of Maryland and majored in Education. After graduation, Judith began her long-term math teaching career in the Prince Georges School System. She then went on to get her master’s equivalency in education from the University of Maryland so that she could teach future educators on how to become educators! Judith was a mentor and role model to many students and teachers, and always believed that “Success was for All.”
Judith later moved to Capitol Hill where she had a spectacular condo furnished with a piano and wonderful artwork. Aside from teaching, Judith loved attending the theater and would go to almost every show in D.C. She was also very involved in politics and attended just about every democratic inauguration. Judith even made it a point to visit all the democratic presidential libraries! She also spent a lot of her years traveling, with one of her favorite places being Paris.
Judith’s friends would describe her as a very generous and sociable person, who loves joining new activities and meeting new people. You can always rely on Judith to bring fun and enthusiasm to your activity program!
Today, Judith is a very active resident! She is also a proud dog mom of her beautiful black Cocker Spaniel, Hedy, who she continues to love and care for. Hedy not only provides Judith and other residents with an endless amount of love and attention but she also serves as our staff’s number one assistant, always following them around in case we need an extra hand! Judith continues to enjoy exercise classes, attending music programs, participating in games like table bowling, and socializing with other residents. We are so lucky to have both Judith and Hedy here with us in the Groves!
