Musical Notes with Melissa: Exciting Update

Melissa Pate

Kensington Park Friends & Families,

Thank you to everyone for your warm wishes and kind words as I step into
the role of Director of Creative Arts Therapies. Through the last 18 months of navigating the pandemic, I’ve heard from so many of you that music therapy has been a bright spot for you
and your loved ones.

Of course, we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Jessie Power, the original KP Music Therapist! Jessie came to Kensington to work as an Activities Assistant, but she soon planted the seed of music therapy. What started as one resident quickly grew into a full-time position and soon enough, we had two full-time and two part-time music therapists working across campus.

Though we are sad to see Jessie go, she has equipped the team with the vision to continue what she started, and I have full confidence that our program will thrive.

If you have any questions about music therapy services, please feel free to reach out to me at mpate@kensingtonsl.com.
