Mary’s Message: How Far We’ve Come

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

What a difference a year makes! We love having our families and friends visiting indoors once again, and it’s important to note that resident happy hour is back – on a smaller scale for now! Residents are out and about and going on outings downtown to museums. Now that more people are getting vaccinated and the State of Maryland and Montgomery County has begun lifting more restrictions, we’ve planned some summer fun in smaller gatherings. Vaccination is key for us to continue to move forward. We are proud to share that our team is 97.1% vaccinated and we are on our way to 100% by July 1, 2021. It has been a great feeling throughout our campus!

As I mentioned in last month’s Park Bench, 2021 marks Kensington Park’s 10-Year Anniversary: A Decade of Our Promise to Families. We’ll be celebrating throughout the rest of the year with several outdoor gatherings! This includes the launch of our Forever Family Alumni Program for families and friends whose loved ones have passed but wish to continue to stay connected to us. To our Alumni
who are reading, we welcome you back and we’re SO glad you are here!

Did You Know? June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month. We’re excited to invite you to a special brain-health event: Brain It on with Maria Shriver of the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement (WAM) and Lauren Miller Rogen of HFC on Thursday, June 24 at 3:00pm via Zoom. This free-to-attend, virtual 90-minute gathering is for anyone interested in learning more about the connection between Alzheimer’s and brain health, and ways that we can all take a step forward on our journey. Join us for candid conversations, actionable steps, and even a few surprise guests.

We are so relieved to be getting back to some semblance of normalcy here at Kensington Park. We thank you for your love and support over the past year. We look forward to celebrating with you in 2021!

Warmly,
Mary
