Team Member Highlight: Shaunte Waite

Shaunte was nominated for Employee of the Month for her kind, caring attitude, her love for seniors, her smile, and her helping hand no matter the situation. Shaunte

Shaunte started working as a concierge at Kensington Park in February 2018. She was referred to us by her friend and team member, private-duty aide Renea Nash. Born and raised in Hyattsville, Maryland, Shaunte attended Washington United Christian Academy then enrolled in Prince George’s County Community College. She is currently finishing coursework for her associate’s degree with hopes of attending Bowie State University in the spring, where she will major in business administration.

Steak, asparagus and mashed potatoes are Shaunte’s favorite foods. She enjoys cooking, dancing, and singing and would like to learn photography. Her dream job would be to open a catering business because of her zest for cooking which she says she inherited from her dad. When asked for whom she would want to cook, she says Gordon Ramsey, the famous host of the TV show “Master Chef.” And she’d love to be a contestant! In her free time, she enjoys traveling. She’s visited Jamaica (from where her parents immigrated), Mexico, the Bahamas and Las Vegas. She also enjoys going out to dance with her boyfriend of four years, Ricardo. Recently, at the Employee Recognition Banquet, the couple was seen on the dance floor almost all night. You might not know that Shaunte has a Shih Tzu named Kingston whom she adores and would like to introduce to the residents here at Kensington Park.

Her advice to new hires is to always be willing to take on new challenges. She says it only makes you a better person. Shaunte enjoys being a part of the Kensington Park team, where she appreciates the opportunity, she has to help residents and their family members. Shaunte describes herself as quiet and shy, but says that in her role as a concierge, she is able to practice assertiveness and gain greater confidence. Congratulations, Shaunte, for your contributions to our community!
