Spring’s New Beginnings

Dear Residents, Families and Friends

Kensington Park, as part of Kensington Senior Living, is happy to announce a partnership with Rivet Revolution to “Spread the Love” and help end Alzheimer’s. Rivet Revolution is a nonprofit organization founded last summer by three women who were entering the second acts of their respective careers. Liz, Susan, and Carol created the Revolution to fund research, empower the networks of families and friends who have been affected by Alzheimer’s and to have a blast doing so. Each of these women have a personal connection to someone with the disease, and they are passionate about using their own experiences in a productive and positive way to help others. Rivet Revolution has designed bracelets inspired by the strong and permanent bond of the rivet. These beautiful works of art are intended to be worn every day by those affected by Alzheimer’s to spark conversations, raise awareness and establish connections. Ten dollars from each sale will be donated to Alzheimer’s research. Spread the word…and the love. Family members and friends can order bracelets by visiting www.rivetrevolution.com. Use Partner Code KSL.

As we enter spring and a time that represents new beginnings, we’ll be officially kicking off our Kensington Park Fundraising Committee’s effort on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association’s National Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The date of the Walk has yet to be announced, but it will likely be a Saturday in October 2017 on the National Mall. If you are interested in joining our fundraising committee, please contact Chenika Johnson, our Groves Activities Coordinator. She can be reached at cjohnson@kensingtonsl.com. Our 2017 Walk team is registered with the Alzheimer’s Association and you can join us by visiting alz.org/nca, choosing “Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” choosing “Washington, DC” and then choosing “Teams.” Be sure to join “Kensington Park Senior Living.” We are very excited to be participating in this important endeavor to end a horrible disease. Our team last year comprised more than 30 walkers and raised close to $15,000. Please take a moment to register.

And be on the lookout, from now through September, for ongoing fundraising events! We are grateful to be part of these two wonderful programs and look forward to making a difference in the lives of those impacted by this disease. Again, thanks to all of you for your continued support, feedback, and kind comments about our team. We love being able to care for all of your loved ones. Feel free to contact me at any time at mmell@kensingtonsl.com or 301-946-7700.

Warmly,

Headshot of Kensington Park Executive Director Mary Mell.
