This month, we are proud to shine a spotlight on our fun and friendly Highlands resident, Leah F.! Leah was born in Lancaster, PA, which is often associated with the large Amish community. Weekly visits and purchases from the fresh Amish farm markets are a vivid memory of Leah’s childhood, a childhood that Leah says was “wonderful and cherished.”
From early on, Leah knew she wanted to be a nurse. She received her nursing degree at Chestnut Hill Hospital and took further nursing courses at the University of Pennsylvania. Leah had a long career wearing many different “nursing” caps. She was a hospital nurse, summer camp nurse and school nurse, and while working as the school nurse, she doubled as the Health Education teacher!
A nursing friend introduced Leah to Jack F., with whom she wed and had three children: two sons and one daughter. Leah’s daughter, Lori, and her family live in Kensington, and they were the catalyst for her move to Kensington Park. Leah sadly lost her son, Jay. Her other son, Jeffery, lives on the west coast.
Leah also has one great grandson, four grandsons and one granddaughter.
While it was difficult for Leah to leave her closest friends, she is delighted to be making new friends at Kensington Park, whom she enjoys spending time with. She loves her apartment and the porches.
Leah says, “Friends and family make me happy.” Well, nothing makes us happier than having Leah and her family as part of our Kensington Park family!
