As we frequently stress, the well-being of our residents and their families is at the heart of Kensington Park’s mission and the single focus of our team’s efforts every day. In service of this ideal, we’ve recently developed an additional source of support for families through our newly-named Director of Family Services (DFS), Kimkitta Cariah-Butler.
Kimkitta, whose background is in psychology, has a lengthy tenure in hospitality and senior living and has served as a community relations director and executive director.
In her new role Kim oversees the move-in coordinator and then continues to be available as a resource throughout a resident’s entire stay at Kensington Park. She facilitates the Caregiver Connect support program for families and is a valuable resource during more emotionally stressful times, such as when a loved one is hospitalized or difficult end-of-life medical decisions must be made.
Kim attends care-plan meetings on days 14 and 45 of residency, and remains accessible to answer family members’ questions, address concerns, or manage crises, if any arise. She also handles end-of-life services, such as hospice, and plans memorial gatherings to celebrate a resident’s life.
No other senior living community provides the caliber of assistance that our Director of Family Services can deliver. Kim’s commitment to service and the betterment of people, especially amidst challenging circumstances, is as obvious as her big heart. I encourage you to reach out to her, at kcariahbutler@kensingtonsl.com, if the need arises, and let her be your ally.
Warmly,
Mary Mell, Executive Director
