Musical Notes with Melissa Pate

Melissa PateIn the Good Ol’ Summertime, in the Good Ol’ Summertime. Strolling down the shady lane with that baby mine.”

In the Good Ol’ Summertime! More sunshine, more daylight, warmer weather, and outdoor activities—there are so many reasons to love summer. This time of year is especially fun for the KP Creative Arts Team as we plan session activities and themes for our individuals and groups. If you think back to your childhood, when were some of your best memories made? Was it that camping trip you went on? Was it spending summers on the beach, staying cool under the boardwalk? Or maybe, you just stayed home and played outside catching fireflies until your mom called you inside!

This summer, our music therapy groups will feature the theme song of “In the Good Ol’ Summertime,” as we reminisce on how the residents used to spend their summers. We’ll sing about traveling, talk about summer jobs, explore different summer activities that they did, and have fun making music while doing so! Stay tuned for a performance at the end of the summer!
