Musical Notes with Melissa: Our Growing Team

Melissa Pate

Our team is expanding! Please join me in welcoming Dave Landes, MMT, to the Kensington Park family.

David is a board-certified music therapist. He studied music therapy at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia, and recently completed a Master of Music Therapy degree program at Slippery Rock University. He also holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from James Madison University.

David has many years of experience as a performer, both solo and in ensembles, on guitar, voice, and a wide variety of folk instruments. He enjoys performing a wide array of styles including pop, folk, and classical, and has sung with a variety of select choirs and in the Shenandoah Bach Festival in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

David worked for many years in a living history museum setting, where he led music education and outreach programs. During the last 10 years, he has had the opportunity to travel internationally with his wife. During this time, he taught in international schools in Turkmenistan (Central Asia) and Guinea (West Africa), as well as taught guitar lessons in Mumbai, India and Budapest, Hungary. Most recently, he held a position as music therapist and guitar instructor at the National Conservatory of Arts in Washington, DC.

In his free time, David enjoys gardening, tennis, making musical instruments, and spending time with his two adult children.

We are excited to see how David’s programming and music experience enriches the lives of our residents here at Kensington Park!
