Musical Notes with Melissa: Holistic Health Month

Melissa Pate

March is Holistic Health Month, and while holistic care is an important concept, it is often misunderstood. Holistic health recognizes the interconnectedness of the body and defines health not only through physical means but also through mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Through Kensington Park’s activities, creative arts therapies and brain wellness programming, our goal is to provide for residents’ needs holistically. In music therapy, we use singing, music-assisted relaxation, music listening and discussion, and other interventions to decrease anxiety. In brain wellness, we use trivia, question-and-answer exercises, and other brain games to stimulate the mind. For activities programming, we incorporate exercise, arts and crafts, cooking, discussion, music, and more to meet the social, emotional, physical, and mental needs of our residents.

Kensington Park embodies holistic care for your loved ones, in keeping with our promise to care for your family as we do our own. For more information on music therapy or brain wellness, contact Melissa Pate at mpate@kensingtonsl.com.
