Dear Residents, Families, and Friends,
This month, we are highlighting Kensington Park’s Brain Wellness Program and our Brain Wellness Facilitator, Alyssa Nurik! Our Brain Wellness program offers residents the opportunity for cognitive exercise, working towards specific goals. Alyssa conducts individualized sessions working towards these goals, with regular Brief Cognitive Assessment Tool (BCAT) assessments, providing various exercises for cognitive stimulation and social interaction.
Some of the most popular cognitive exercises in our Brain Wellness sessions include memory recall exercises, word finding and word games, trivia, reminiscence, and reading and discussing MemPics books. Residents involved in this program enjoy challenging their minds in a variety of ways!
The Brain Wellness Program also offers Creative Wellness sessions that provide stimulating art and creative activities to residents in a one-on-one setting. Creative Wellness activities may include painting, drawing, beading, working with clay, and more! This program is beneficial for our residents who have a background in the arts or enjoy art activities. Residents in the Highlands, Woodlands, and Groves can get involved in our Brain Wellness and Creative Wellness Programs.
