My name is Conor Duncan and I am proud to be the new Director of Community Partnerships at Kensington Park. I first became acquainted with senior living at the age of seven when my mom began working at a community that had just opened near our home. I would walk there every day after school and spend time volunteering. I loved to deliver mail to residents, serve refreshments during social hour, and play word games. I mostly spent time conversing with residents, learning as much as I could from their life stories. As I grew older, both of my own grandmothers moved into senior living communities, which deepened my appreciation for the staff members’ commitment and dedication.
These experiences were highly formative and developed in me a sense of compassion and the desire to connect with and care for others. I carried these values with me into adulthood and pursued a career path in serving others. I studied education in college and went on to teach abroad in Galway, Ireland for a year. I then returned home and worked for a local media agency doing marketing and events, which was a wonderful creative outlet for me. After that, I decided to join the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and dedicate a year to running an after-school program in a low-income community in New York. My background in both helping others and creativity led me to this exciting new role at Kensington Park.
I am learning new things every day about senior living and have been so impressed with Kensington Park’s promise to love and care for our residents like family. You all are a part of that family, too, and we are so grateful for your hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence for seniors. You play a vital role in our community and I so look forward to getting to know you. I promise to strive to be a resource and a friend. Cheers to all our future partnerships!
