Mary’s Message: What We’re Looking Forward to This Fall

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

As we enter the season of cooler weather, football games and back to school, although things are different, we still are entering a time where we begin to think more about giving to others. We thank YOU from the bottom of our heart for putting your trust in our team and allowing us the opportunity to do what we love, care for others. This is an invaluable gift to our team; our relationships with you and your family member mean so much to us. Because of you, our community continues to remain full – no vacancies at the inn!

For those who may not know, our team participates annually in the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s.” Our team, residents and families have done an amazing job each year raising funds for this endeavor. Many of you have been very generous and have either donated online or purchased goods from various fundraisers. This year’s Drive-By Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, October 2nd from 10am-3pm. Be on the lookout for an upcoming flyer: handmade goodies and baked goods, along with raffles and hot dogs! And the official day for the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” is on Saturday, October 9th!

Also in October: NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase’s Quilt Show & Artisan Boutique featuring our very own, very talented Highlands resident Alice Washburn! Head down to the Kensington Armory/ Town Hall on Friday, October 1st and Saturday, October 2nd to see Alice’s beautiful work in-person.

We have been planning ahead for November: Friendsgiving at Kensington Park or “Stuff the Truck,” as we like to say! We will be reaching out to the community at large for all to support Mid-County United Ministries (MUM). Anyone can drop off nonperishable food items and help stuff our truck on Thursday, November 18th. It feels so good to give back and help others.

I am deeply touched by the continued support from our families. This pandemic, along with the unrest in our world combined with natural disasters has had a significant impact on us emotionally and physically. Please be each other’s advocates so we can continue to be strong together through all of this. So glad each of you are part of our Kensington Park family!

Warmly,

Mary
