Mary’s Message: Summer Fun Continues

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

I hope you all are staying cool and enjoying this summer! I wanted to update you all on some great events happening in August.

First, we have a fascinating virtual event on Wednesday, August 9th, titled “Exploring the New FDA-Approved Treatment for Dementia: How Can Leqembi Help My Loved One?” We are thrilled to partner with Neurologist Kenneth Wogensen, MD, to learn all about Leqembi, a revolutionary new treatment for dementia. You can register on the Events page of our website. We will also share a recording of the event.

In addition, we are finishing up our five-part virtual workshop series for caregivers. The final two topics are “Caregiver Mental Fitness” with Braden Bishop, caregiver advocate and former major league baseball player on Wednesday, August 16th, and “Weekly Wellness Plan to Find Balance & Joy for a Busy Life” with Sherri Snelling, Gerontologist, on Wednesday, August 23rd. All sessions will be recorded and you can register on our Events page.

On August 20th at 3:30pm, we are excited to launch a new musical program, “Making Musical Connections.” We are launching this program in our Highlands building, with the goal of bringing it to all families across campus. Families and their little ones will join residents in active music making, movement, and singing to build meaningful connections! Children can play different instruments, sing, and practice social skills as they make music with their peers, parents, and KP residents. To learn about the requirements and to register, contact Julia McCarren, our Director of Creative Arts Therapy, at JMcCarren@kensingtonsl.com.

And finally, also on August 20th at 6:30pm, don’t miss the final performance of our annual Summer Concert Series with The Winstons “Memories Of Motown & Soul” Duo. Bring friends and family to KP for live entertainment and ice cream treats! I hope you all stay healthy and soak up this last bit of summer!

Warmly,
Mary
