Mary’s Message: Let’s Put Love in Action

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

Let’s Put Love in Action – for Others and for Ourselves. As you know, our team is dedicated not only to taking care of our residents – but also of you, our KP families and friends.

In honor of National Caregiving Day on Friday, February 18th, join Kensington Senior Living for CareCon 2022, taking place from 3–5 p.m. ET. This free, live-streamed event is packed with celebrity-hosted, expert-led panels and workshops for the comedy-loving caregiver. Connect with others around the globe as you learn tools for resilience and best practices to help ease the stressors that often come with the caregiving experience. If you have not participated already, another way to take care of you is through our Caregiver Connect program. Each month, Leslie Mason, LCSW-C, a Care Manager for Seabury Resources for Aging, leads a virtual discussion with other caregivers to come together and talk about common challenges in a welcoming, private setting. Click here for more information.

February is also when we set aside time to celebrate Black History Month. Throughout the month, our activities across campus will include events celebrating Black history, from educational trivia games and discussions to Black music appreciation and more. Additionally, below we recommend a great list of books to read this month to reflect and educate yourself on Black heritage:

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward

The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander

The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

Again, share the love with others this month. Thank those you cherish and remember, be nice to yourself!

Warmly,

Mary
