Mary’s Message: February Happenings

Dear Residents, Families and Friends,

One shot down – one to go! Tuesday, January 26th was a historic day here at Kensington Park and one that we will never forget; it was our first COVID-19 vaccination clinic! It is hard to believe that just one year ago, the pandemic was not yet a pandemic and our day-to-day lives were untouched by the difficulty we have now become so familiar with. It was incredibly moving to see our resilient residents and team members roll up their sleeves after such a long wait. We cheered, we laughed, and we cried with joy together at the tremendous moment in time. Check out page 6 for fun photos and more details! We’ll be welcoming the pharmacists back on Tuesday, February 16th for our second clinic.

As you know, our team is dedicated not only to taking care of our residents – but of you, our KP families and friends, too. COVID-19 may have kept us from supporting you in the usual in-person ways on campus last year, but we pivoted and offered a virtual platform of events including virtual Caregiver Connect, Take Care of You: 7 Weeks to Better Self-Care, live music therapy Music for the Mind, Body & Soul, and cooking demos Kensington Cooks Live with Chef Morissa. We hope you enjoyed them from home! We are excited to announce a continuation of these virtual events in 2021, including our exciting upcoming Kensington Konnect: Weekly Curated Classes Just for You! Beginning February 11, tune in for live, weekly classes on a variety of fun topics like art history, literature, floral arranging, travel, meditation and more. Chef Morissa and activities coordinators Kate Moeller and Ashley Lorello will be featured! You won’t want to miss out.

In honor of National Caregiving Day on Friday, February 19th, we’re co-hosting a special event alongside our sister communities in VA, NY and CA called “CareCon: Connecting Hearts through Caregiving.” Comedian Seth Rogen, his wife Lauren, and their charity “Hilarity for Charity” will be the presenting speakers and they’ve lined up some other Hollywood stars to join as well. Tune in to learn tools for resilience and best practices to help ease the stressors that can come along with caregiving. We hope you can join us!

Warmly,
Mary
