Dear Residents, Families and Friends,
As we enter the season of cooler weather, football games and back to school, we certainly have a lot to look forward to at Kensington Park.
We kicked September off by participating in the Town of Kensington Labor Day Parade! This event has been held off since the pandemic, and we were more than excited to welcome it back this year with some of our residents taking part in the parade. There is no better way to get back out into the community that we call home!
Then, Kensington Park celebrated our beloved grandparents on Grandparents Day, which took place on September 11th. The celebration included residents and their families, music, food, and even farm animals! We are so grateful to witness the special bond between many of our residents and their grandchildren – who are all a part of our big KP Family.
Also on September 11th, we honored heroes from the 2001 attacks by holding a moment of silence at each building, as well as passed out home-made lasagnas to the Kensington Fire Department. Our very own move-in coordinator Betsy Davis, former Montgomery County Police Assistant Chief, organized these special efforts.
September also happens to be Falls Prevention Awareness Month, and we are proud to feature our Director of Rehabilitation Services, Kevin Lorello. Kevin works both one-on-one with residents and in group classes to improve balance and educate on the best fall prevention strategies. Kevin’s weekly “Balance in Action” class at The Highlands is always a packed house!
We have had a fun month already at Kensington Park and look forward to spending time with you all – our KP Family. Look out for even more happenings in October, including our Fourth Annual Vintage Car Show on October 2nd!
I wish everyone a healthy and happy September.
