Happy August!

“Relax to the Sights, Sounds, Smells and Tastes of Summer” It’s here. The lazy, hazy days of summer have come at last. Every season has its own unique sights, sounds, tastes and smells. We can experience this time of year not just as dates on a calendar, but as an opportunity to use all of our senses to really savor the season.

At Kensington Park, we have beautiful walkways where you can see plenty signs of summer, like the chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels, watch for birds using a puddle or birdbath to bathe, look for caterpillars or simply sit outside in the evening and look for fireflies.

As weeks pass and the weather gets hotter, you can feel the dry, humid air as we begin to peel off all those layers of clothing. Summer at Kensington Park is a great time to dress cool to go outside and touch the lawn that is wet with early morning dew. Feel the summer sun on your skin. Don’t get sunburned! Welcome that summer breeze, and if it’s too hot for you outside, come on in and feel the cool breeze blowing from a fan or touch your face with a cool, icy drink. Try our cool drinks – be sure to sip some fresh lemonade or freshly brewed iced tea from the Kensington Park kitchen. Take a bite of summer with fruits, like watermelon, peaches and strawberries.

Summer is the perfect, pressure-free time to relax and to enjoy the season as much as we can with all of our senses. Think about what sights, smells, tastes and sounds evoke this time of year for you. Give it a try, and I know you’ll go a long way towards filling this summer with great memories at Kensington Park.
