In partnership with the community, Kensington Park is hosting its annual spring speaker series. Topics range in subjects to inform various aspects of health and wellness across the globe. Our series begins with learning about Blue Zones: What are they? Where are they?
Next we will take an introspective look at our health and well-being to better understand positive psychology and the motivation to be more mindful. Asking, does gratitude actually improve our state of wellness?
Finally, in 2016 the National Park Service celebrated its Centennial Birthday! With 412 National Parks spread across the United States, we will take a look at the historical significance of parks and discover some interesting facts about walkable communities in our D.C. area.
Kensington Park offers our annual hallmark speaker series to encourage seniors and community members to live independently, with choice and dignity. Our keynote speakers will address ways to enrich your life and relationships while staying safe and healthy.
Join former National Park Service ranger Michael Grant for a 30-minute presentation regarding his work experience here in the National Capital Region, and how this exposure to parks continues to benefit his ongoing enjoyment of urban and trail hikes as he enters his retirement years. Mike will also describe a few of his favorite hiking locations in this area, as well as offer suggestions how technology and a few easy “steps” can enhance your outings.
Presentation begins at 2p & Refreshments, social from 3-4:30. A brief question/answer session will be available after the presentation for the audience.
