At Kensington Park Senior Living, caring for our residents like family isn’t just something we say—it’s who we are. This extends beyond our walls to the greater community of families.
This philosophy shines brightest during our 9th Annual Friendsgiving event, when residents, their families, caregivers, and our local community work together to celebrate the bonds that keep us connected by giving back to our neighbors in need.
This special tradition at Kensington Park ensures everyone feels valued, supported, and part of something bigger. It’s a time to honor the relationships that mean the most and remind us why we continue to reach out, offering love and support to families in ways that truly make a difference.
A Friendsgiving of love and gratitude with Kensington Park
Kick off the holiday season with our Friendsgiving food drive at Kensington Park!
Help ‘Stuff the Truck’ with the Kensington Park team.
All proceeds will benefit Mid-County United Ministries (MUM), a non-profit organization that assists people in crisis in the Silver Spring, Wheaton, Kensington, Rockville, and Aspen Hill areas.
This event is a wonderful opportunity to team up with Kensington Park and fellow community members as we join forces to give back during the season of gratitude.
Your donations will help support local families and individuals facing challenges, ensuring they have the necessary resources as we approach the holiday season.
Ways to contribute
Friendsgiving at Kensington Park is all about giving back, and there are several ways you can contribute:
- Non-perishable food donations: We’re accepting canned goods, pasta, rice, and other non-perishable staples.
- Gift cards: A $25 gift card to Safeway or Giant can go a long way in helping individuals purchase groceries.
- Monetary donations: If you prefer to make a financial contribution, checks can be payable to Mid-County United Ministries (MUM).
By participating in the food drive, you’ll help Mid-County United Ministries continue its vital work of assisting individuals facing hardships.
Expanding our care to the community
Kensington Park prides itself on being integral to the local community.
While we focus on delivering exceptional care to our residents, we also believe in giving back to the community that has warmly embraced us.
By partnering with local organizations, charities, and families, we ensure that our support extends to the community, not just those within our residence.
Through outreach initiatives, volunteer efforts, and ongoing partnerships, Kensington Park aims to create a ripple effect of compassion and care.
Our Friendsgiving is one of many ways we bring people together—families, caregivers, neighbors—to support those in need.
How caregivers can participate in the season of gratitude
The Thanksgiving season provides a wonderful opportunity for caregivers to reflect on the importance of gratitude in their lives and engage in activities promoting a sense of community.
Here are a few ways you can participate in this season of giving and gratitude.
Volunteering together
One of the most meaningful ways to express gratitude is by giving back.
Seniors can volunteer together at local food drives, shelters, or senior centers. This shared experience fosters connection and reinforces the value of community service.
Kensington Park encourages residents and caregivers to explore volunteer opportunities for seniors, helping to make the season of gratitude even more impactful.
Creating gratitude projects
A creative approach to expressing gratitude is through art or writing.
Caregivers and seniors can create thank-you cards, write letters of appreciation, or craft small gifts for friends, family members, or community helpers.
These heartfelt gestures not only strengthen bonds but also give people a chance to reflect on the relationships that have made a positive impact on their lives.
Joining or organizing a community event
Local communities often hold events around the Thanksgiving season to bring people together.
Whether it’s a charity walk, a neighborhood potluck, or a local cultural event, these gatherings allow seniors to engage with their community.
Kensington Park’s Friendsgiving is an excellent example of how we work to bring people together in the spirit of gratitude and fellowship.
