The Kensington Park team hosted our second CarFit event on April 20th, 2017, in partnership with our on-site rehabilitation group, Genesis Rehab. It was a big success, with over 20 drivers attending the event at our senior living community! By partnering with CarFit we are helping ensure senior drivers in Montgomery County can drive more comfortably.
Carfit is an educational program created by the American Society on Aging and developed in collaboration with AAA (American Automobile Association), AARP and the American Occupational Therapy Association. Their goal is not only to guide mature drivers to a proper fit in their personal vehicles, but also to help seniors feel more comfortable when behind the wheel.
Thank you to the volunteers, who helped set-up, run, and break-down the event and to the CarFit technicians who came to our senior living community to help drivers understand 
their best “fit” in their cars. These technicians spent the full day with Kensington Park residents, family members, and other community members, walking them through a 20-point checklist, which included examining elements such as rear-view and side-mirror alignment, blind spot presence, and visual cues from signal lights.
We are already looking forward to our next CarFit event, where we will help even more mature drivers find the safest fit in their personal vehicles. Please stay tuned to our Upcoming Events page to sign-up for the next event!
