A Midweek Reset for Mind, Body & Connection
Begin the new year with Wellness Wednesdays, a January event series at Kensington Park designed to support whole-person well-being through engaging, accessible experiences. Each session offers an opportunity to pause midweek, connect with others, and nurture brain and body health through music, movement, communication, and rhythm. Whether you attend independently or with a loved one, these programs are welcoming, uplifting, and created to spark joy, connection, and renewal.

Chris CovellChris is the owner of Brain Engaging Enterprises providing entertainment, a sense of community, and a whole lot of fun to older adults, families, and their care partners. Chris also has been known to teach activity professionals, senior serving staff, and other humans on how to use the rules of engagement found in comedy to create joy and connect more with their respective audience.
Prior to this adventurous venture, Chris was a nationally touring stand-up comic, musician, singer and songwriter trained in improvisation at The Second City in Chicago. Chris loves to continue to learn and grow helping others engage their brains via music mayhem along this marvelous journey called life.

Beth MeyersTrauma-Informed yoga teacherBeth Meyer is a local Trauma-Informed yoga teacher specializing in supporting adults 50 and better. Through her company, Second Act Yoga & Wellness, she helps individuals in their second half of life build strength, improve balance, increase mobility, and enhance overall well-being.
Beth’s classes are gentle, supportive, and accessible to all levels, creating a safe and welcoming environment for participants. With a focus on mindful movement, breath work, and relaxation, her approach supports physical health, reduces stress, and fosters resilience. Programs are designed to help older adults remain active, confident, and engaged.

Susan WranikSusan, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, is a national speaker, author, linguist and medical professional passionate about clear communication and quality of life. Initially a translator/interpreter for the Italian Ministry of Defense, she moved to clinical work as a speech-language pathologist.
Susan speaks on a variety of subjects, including aphasia, better brain health, confident communication, dementia, ethics and eating, and celebrating the circle of life. She’s in private practice in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and treats neurogenic communication, cognitive, and swallowing challenges in the adult and older adult population blending linguistic, cultural, and medical expertise to provide comprehensive communication skills enhancement.-

Katy GaughnKaty Gaughn is a professional drum circle facilitator, certified Village Music Circles Global trainer, percussionist, retreat leader, and event organizer dedicated to bringing people together through the healing power of rhythm and drumming. For over 15 years, she has organized and hosted drum events throughout the Washington, DC area, including First Saturday Drum Circles, Greenbelt Rhythm and Drum Festival, Wednesday Night Drum Jams, Takoma Park Summer Drum Circles, and the Washington National Cathedral Drum Circles.
