Exceptional Memory Care
“To make a difference in someone’s life you don’t have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful, or perfect. You have to care.” – Mandy Hale
Memory loss is life-changing for all involved – your family, as well as your loved one. We understand Alzheimer’s and dementia, and we seek ways to capitalize on resident strengths, despite the deterioration of recall. We help residents and families find ways to enjoy the beauty of special times, even if only for moments at a time. We honor the past, savor the present, and look toward making the times that lie ahead manageable, comfortable, and ultimately, peaceful.

Specialized Care for a Very Special Person –
Your Loved One
The goal at Kensington Park Senior Living is to help each resident live independently as long as they are able. We assist in the process by providing care customized to your loved one’s level of memory loss. It’s care in which we offer assistance where needed but step back to encourage his or her sense of independence.
In addition to around the clock loving care and support, we also provide relevant clinical services. This includes a full-time Registered Nurse who coordinates the comprehensive nursing and medical care of each resident. In addition, we have licensed nurses on staff 24/7, as well as primary care managers available to provide medication/diabetes management, including injections. We accommodate residents with late-stage Alzheimer’s disease, and also welcome very frail residents who might not be accepted at other facilities. Kensington Park is a BCAT (Brief Cognitive Assessment Tool) Partner. Our staff is trained and certified to administer this assessment when evaluating the cognitive functioning of our residents. The BCAT is also used to guide our activity programming in both Assisted Living and Memory Care.
When needed, we also offer on-site rehabilitation services through our partnership with Genesis Rehab. You can have the peace of mind and confidence in knowing that your loved one is being cared for by capable, professional hands at all times.
But the best therapy of all is keeping families close at hand. We encourage family and friends to visit as often as possible and to lean on us for support whenever necessary. We know that by sharing caregiving responsibility, families are able to enjoy the pleasure of time spent together.
We also offer The Kensington Club, available to loved ones prior to joining us in one of our memory care neighborhoods. It’s a bridge to the next level of care, designed especially for assisted living residents when mild forgetfulness has begun to interfere with a resident’s daily life.
Two “Neighborhoods” for Customized Levels of Memory Care
Because we empathize with residents and their loved ones who are confronting the challenges of memory loss, we offer a thoughtfully designed memory care program geared towards the whole family. We believe the degree of memory loss is an important consideration when providing memory care. We offer two “neighborhoods”, each customized to meet different levels of memory loss. Your loved one can live in our Connections neighborhood or our Haven neighborhood for more advanced memory loss.
We believe the best care is provided when we help residents to “age in place”, which the
two neighborhoods enhance. Both neighborhoods are cozy, intimate, secure, and staffed by professionals trained to meet residents where they are.
This is our neighborhood for early to middle stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia care. It’s designed specifically for residents who are showing increasing signs of memory loss but still retain a large degree of independence. Our goal is to help residents stay engaged in activities that give meaning and purpose to their lives.
Your loved one may be experiencing increased anxiety, fear of getting lost, isolation, and even depression. They may be having difficulty with daily tasks without reminders, causing them to become frustrated and to lose confidence. They may also wander and become agitated in the late afternoon or early evening, as the sun goes down.
Connections provides a fully secured environment to maximize safety, in an intimate, homelike living space that fosters calm and comfort. The neighborhood has porches, a patio, and garden areas to enable residents to freely enjoy fresh air and sunshine. Here we offer wander management technology to manage their whereabouts while they move about freely.
This is our neighborhood for middle to late stages of Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Residents may be experiencing difficulty recognizing family and friends, organizing thoughts, and managing the activities of daily living. They may require assistance to maintain appearance and good hygiene, while wandering and agitation may become more pronounced.
Haven residents in this neighborhood receive a higher level of assistance and care. Our goal is to maximize comfort, minimize agitation, and soothe compassionately. We also strive to offer residents opportunities to become involved in ways that are meaningful.
The neighborhood provides cozy and intimate living spaces that enable residents to explore safely and freely. Residents will enjoy abundant natural light and a fully secure outdoor terrace to create a cheerful environment.
The neighborhood features an adaptive design, including painted walls and doors, motion sensors, and specially designed carpet and memory boxes to help with recognition and minimize confusion. We also make sure the kitchen is filled with happy sounds and smells of home, such as bread baking, music, laughter, and soft voices to soothe and please the senses.
Many Floor Plans for You to Choose From
We offer a selection of luxury suite floor plans available in either neighborhood to best fit your loved one’s needs and preferences. You can select single or companion living, and pets are always welcome as members of the Kensington Park Family.

Dementia Friendly America
Become a Dementia Friend today! Kensington Park is proud to be involved in the Dementia Friendly America initiative.
Montgomery County, Maryland is an exceptional place for dementia awareness and expertise in thanks to a partnership with Dementia Friendly America, a nationwide network of communities that provides resources and support for people living with dementia as well as their caregivers. In 2015, Montgomery County joined the movement and officially became “Dementia Friendly.” Since then, the government, local businesses, and individual advocates have worked in unison to educate themselves and the public on the ins and outs of what it means to be age friendly. For example, the police department now trains all its officers extensively on best practices in dementia care—an initiative so successful it has become a national case study! We are so proud to be embedded in a county that is leading the way in dementia awareness. Truly, no community can thrive unless all its members are thriving!
